NGOs and emergency aid

False Claim

WHO

From the post: *But there is also the nice academic and “humanitarian” version of the conspiracy theory, carried out by NGOs that have gradually been infiltrated by powers with bad intentions. Here, endless reports are written about Israel’s misdeeds and endless fundraising is done in support of Gaza – and often the fundraising is supported by outright lies such as “Every 10 minutes a child dies in Gaza” or “Famine!”.

Among NGOs, the story of the “genocide” in Gaza thrives, which very cleverly distracts attention away from the very real genocides taking place in the world today, carried out by Russia and friends. It is clear that a large part of the NGO world has been seduced by Russia and its allies, and for example Ukraine also suffers from the paralysis and delusion of the industry.*

UNRWA

Following the revelation that staff of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) participated in the murder and kidnapping of Israeli civilians during the October 7 massacre, the United States has announced that it will redirect its funds away from UNRWA. Instead, the United States will send money to other UN agencies and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Gaza. This move has been seen as hasty, as it ignores the fact that problems of terrorist support, incitement, and anti-Semitism are widespread throughout the ecosystem of UN agencies and NGOs operating in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

The problem is that UNRWA, in addition to providing healthcare, education, and other humanitarian assistance to Palestinians, also engages in political advocacy work. This work, often aimed at delegitimizing Israel and questioning the Jewish state's right to exist, is carried out in partnership with NGOs and other UN agencies.

UNRWA has partnered with Palestinian NGOs, including Al-Haq and the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR), to carry out projects on “advocacy, monitoring and documentation of HR and IHL violations” in Gaza and the West Bank. These projects make allegations of “war crimes” and “human rights violations” and seek to get international bodies and governments to condemn Israel. The involvement of these NGOs is problematic as they lead anti-Israel legal warfare and seek to exploit international courts with baseless allegations of Israeli wrongdoing.

Both NGOs, Al-Haq and PCHR, have links to the terrorist organization Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). On October 8, both NGOs signed a joint statement describing the Hamas massacre as a “Palestinian armed group operation in response to escalating Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people.” UNRWA, along with the rest of the UN system, does not consider groups such as Hamas, Islamic Jihad, or the PFLP to be responsible and often cooperates with or employs individuals affiliated with these groups.

This creates a dilemma for UNRWA donors, as almost all governments that fund UNRWA prohibit financial and other support for Palestinian terrorists. Donor governments need to demand profound reforms of UNRWA to ensure that the organization focuses strictly on the real humanitarian needs of the Palestinians and does not tolerate incitement or collaboration with terrorist groups. Reforms should also include improved oversight and transparency to ensure that funding is used properly and that there are consequences. A fundamental rethinking of the entire international system of assistance to the Palestinians is needed to achieve lasting peace and stability in the region.

Humanitarian aid

Humanitarian aid, including food, water, and medical supplies, is being sent to Egypt. From there, UN aid is sent to the Gaza Strip via Kerem Shalom, and the remainder is sent to Gaza via the Rafah Crossing in Egypt. A humanitarian aid delivery channel via Jordan is operational. The volume of humanitarian aid is determined, among other things, by the ability of humanitarian organizations in the Gaza Strip to absorb the aid.

Red Cross in Gaza

Røde Kors

The Red Cross is a Swiss organization founded 160 years ago as a neutral mediator in conflicts and to visit and assist prisoners of war. Over the years, it has been heavily criticized by various countries and organizations for what is perceived as its lack of intervention or assistance to those most affected by human rights violations. Most notably, it is considered to have failed to help the Jewish people during the Holocaust, despite visiting concentration camps and having contacts with Nazi officials. The Red Cross even has an official apology on its website.

In June 2023, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky declared the organization a moral failure amid the country's ongoing war against Russia following the latter's invasion.

The Israeli rights organization Shurat HaDin has launched a 10 million shekel (nearly $2.8 million) lawsuit on behalf of 24 plaintiffs against the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The indictment filed by the Jerusalem District Court against the Geneva-based ICRC for failing to act in the wake of Hamas's massacre on October 7 and failing to visit and provide medical care to hostages held by the terror group.

Interethnic Cooperation

The International Coalition often criticizes Israel without taking into account the actual context. They place the blame for the conflict primarily on Israel and often ignore Hamas' role as the aggressor. While they acknowledge that Israel often responds to attacks from Hamas, they fail to mention Hamas' use of civilians as *cannon fodder* during the conflicts. Furthermore, the International Coalition blames Israel for the blockade of Gaza without mentioning Egypt's participation in the blockade. Their demand to lift the blockade also overlooks the real threat that Hamas poses to Israel's security.

Doctors Without Borders

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is a very powerful NGO with an annual budget of over 2 billion euros. It describes itself as an "international, independent medical humanitarian organization" and claims that it "observes neutrality and impartiality in the name of universal medical ethics." MSF reflects the "halo effect" that protects MSF and its image as a major and impartial provider of humanitarian aid, and as a popular charity of choice in Gaza. CNN, NPR, Time, Vogue, United Way, Global Citizen, and others recommend MSF as a suitable destination for donations.

But as is evident from MSF's political campaigns since the brutal Hamas massacre of October 7, its stated commitment principles of "neutrality and impartiality" do not apply to Israel.

MSF has repeatedly demonized Israel, ignored Israeli victims, and erased Hamas's massive war crimes and responsibility for turning Gaza into a massive underground terrorist base. MSF also repeatedly denied that Hamas was present in Gaza hospitals, claiming that "we have seen no evidence that the hospital buildings or compounds are being used by Hamas as a military base." Instead, the NGO claimed that Israel was "attacking" the health system.

Based on the extensive evidence Israel has produced of Hamas's systematic exploitation of Al-Shifa Hospital and other medical facilities, it is impossible that MSF staff and volunteers were unaware of the reality. MSF's silence is a betrayal of medical ethics, the hostages and Palestinian civilians; any medical personnel involved in covering up these activities could potentially face civil and criminal liability in both national and international courts.

Israel's collective trauma

Murdered Jewish woman on a road on October 7

  • 25 ældre over 80 år.
